OUR FIRST BORDER RESCUE

The past 72 hours were historical for I Can Fly International. We received a distress call on Saturday night from a police station near the Tanzania border. Four girls ages 12- 14 years old and their parents were apprehended by local law enforcement officers while attempting to cross the Kenya border into Tanzania for a Female Genital Mutilation ceremony and child marriage arrangement. After the parents were arrested for the attempted crimes the girls were left abandoned at the police station. Unfortunately, the girls were forced to sleep in a jail cell without food for two nights.

Its amazing what can happen when we move outside of the box. Sometimes it only takes one small step of faith to accomplish something extraordinary.
A small group of Kenyan girls have encouraged us to continue to believe there is always hope no matter what situation we find ourselves in. As Female Genital Mutilation
remains an ongoing battle for millions of girls though out the world there are a few brave young souls willing to stand in the face opposition.
